The Marlboro Club in its FIRST EVER EFFORT raised more than $12,000 for the children of New Jersey and the hospital with the goal of providing all of the necessary specialized treatments for the rehabilitation services for our children.
Other clubs are also contributing to this project.
The Kiwanis Club of the Haddons conducts a small fundraising event each week resulting in an accumulation of funds to be donated on a quarterly basis. This will be a few hundred dollars each quarter but it all reduces the goal of $500,000.
The Gloucester Township-Blackwood Club has made a $1,000 donation and they project this will become an annul gift to the program.
I hope all read the agenda and if possible have a club member attend the Foundation Meeting to be held January 9, 2006 at the District Executive office in Bridgewater. If you need directions e-mail me and I will provide them.
Your foundation has many other programs on its calendar and in the planning stage. For Autism month (April) we will co-sponsor a Gala with the Toms River Club at Martel's. (Please see the ad.)
For you sports fans we have many games for your enjoyment. We will host a hockey game with the New Jersey Devils on March 19th at the Meadowlands Through a special arrangement with the Devils we will be able to purchase their $52 tickets for $37 and a portion of that will go towards the district’s commitment to Children's Specialized Hospital in New Brunswick. Check the district website (www.njkiwanis.org) for ordering information. All tickets are to be purchased directly from the NJ Devils.
The Hamilton Club will be hosting a Trenton Thunder game in April; the Jackson Club will host a Blue Claws game this summer as will the Woodbury Club with the Philadelphia Phillies in July.
The Youth Leadership Conference will be held in July. The applications are on both the District and Foundation web sites for your easy use.
The Governor Bob Scholarship and Kiwanis Service Award programs are both in need of your support. These worthy projects will help your club become better known in your community and benefit the children of the Key Club by providing additional scholarship money and your community by making visible a Kiwanis who has given that extra effort to better the community.
Through the efforts of Past Governor Bill Cater we have received grants from the Lucy and Eleanor Upton Foundation. A $10,000 grant has been made to the Children's Specialized Hospital Project and another $5,000 to help the Kiwanis Youth Leadership Program. Your Board will be acknowledging these gifts and distributing the funds to the best advantage of each program.
If there is a project your club would like to have the Foundation's help with you need only make application to your Board for approval giving full details of the project, the requested help and the projected benefits for both the District and your club.
