Foundation Report

October 2004

By Jack Wilson

Greetings from Your District Foundation and its Board of Directors. I hope this will be the first of many letters to you so that you will known what YOUR FOUNDATION is doing in your name and spending your money.

As some of you know, I was elected President of the Foundation at this year’s District Convention. I see this as both a burden and an opportunity. WE are in the process of changing the Governor’s project from Autism to Diabetes. This will require a small change of focus but not an abandonment of the Autism project. WE can and must do a good job for both of these worthy causes.

As the new President of our District Foundation I will be undertaking certain new projects and attempting to expand both the funding and service provided by that organization. This will take much time and effort on my part and co-operation by you, the members of the District. We are an organization that proposes to help children as our main goal. I expect with your help, to reform the foundation into a major player in the treatment of the devastating childhood disease that have been our focus for the least two years and are now the new direction we are about to undertake. This will be a major undertaking that will make our organization a household name throughout the country but only if we are willing to do the work and expend the effort and funds necessary when the projects are announced.

At the first meeting of the 2004-05 District Board I challenged you Lieutenant Governors to hold at least one Divisional Interclub making your foundation the program for that meeting. Your foundation will bring all of the information that you will need to understand the new directions we are taking and why. With this you will be able to make decisions as to how your club will be best able to support the children of New Jersey.

While I asked for a Divisional Interclub to be held that does not mean that your club cannot ask for a program from your foundation. WE will be more than happy to provide a program to any club that requests our appearance. You need only ask by contacting me or any member of the Foundation.
